Video Conferencing Technology in Todays World (part 2 of 2)

Since its inception more than10 years ago, some of these machines are much smaller and more efficient than their predecessors. The price of the equipment has also gone down so you are sure to find something that is very affordable for your budget.

Once the technician from your desired provider installs the system, you can run this machine on your own as it is very user friendly.

But despite the trend, there are those who are concerned about this technology.

For one, since you see the person on the other end and vice versa, some are concerned that no eye contact gives the wrong impression that you are not interested in what the individual on the other end is saying.  The same goes for body movement as some people believe it or not, are not comfortable being in front of the camera.

These issues will be overcome in the future as companies who are providing video conferencing technology are coming up with ways to solve it or after the user gets used to talking to someone while in front of the camera.

Video conferencing technology has an impact in business, education, law enforcement, in medicine and other fields. You have probably used it also at home to talk to friends and loved ones because there are software applications that allow you to do the same thing.

Using video conferencing technology does not only save money but it also increases productivity and at the same time builds relationships because it breaks down boundaries caused by distance and time zones. It is truly one of the marvels of the digital age.

Video Conferencing Technology in Todays World (part 1 of 2)

There was a time talking on the phone was the fastest way to communicate with internal and external customers. This has changed thanks to video conferencing technology because you don’t only get voice but visual as well.

During the early days, picture and audio quality was not very good. With the latest improvements in technology, these barriers have been overcome and more people are already using it.

The biggest benefit of video conferencing is that it reduces the cost of traveling. No longer do you have to fly off somewhere to have a meeting when you can do all that in the conference room. This can also be used by law enforcement to get the testimony of a witness, to teach students who are enrolled in distance education and a lot more.

Video conferencing technology is not possible unless you have the proper equipment. These include the Codec, the camera, microphone, network connection, stands or charts,  terminal adapter and the acoustic echo cancellers. Let’s talk about each of them.

The Codec is one of the most important components because this is what compresses the information sent and received you are able to understand each other.

The camera is what you look into so the other party is able to see you while the microphone is what you speak into so they can hear you through their speakers.

The terminal adapter is needed so you can transmit data into the required format so just like the Codec, you will be able to communicate with the other person.

Lastly, is the echo canceller that is usually hung in the ceiling that is designed to provide clarity and depth to the resonant frequency response of your audio sub system.

Tapestries, Whats in a Name? (part 2 of 2)

But tapestries were hanged on the walls of the homes of the wealthy and powerful also because of another reason: to protect the inhabitants from the cold during the winter months. These are some of the reasons why from the ancient Greeks up until and beyond the Middle Ages, tapestries seem to be a constant fixture in houses especially of residences of nobles and the courts of kings.

The designs began as simple and plain. But later on artists began to explore the medium. As new influence in arts began to surface, the designs with tapestries also began to be more intricate and more complicated. From simple and plain, the designs began to include group images, scenes, etc.

Among the popular images shown in tapestries include stories from the Bible, Greek mythologies, scenes of hunting, and peasants working. Sometimes, those who will commission the manufacturer of these tapestries will request that they, the owner, be included in the artwork disguised to some extent, of course.

In the 14th and 15th centuries, France was at the center of the textile industry and not surprisingly, there were lots of tapestries that came from the area. Fine wool tapestries were the specialties of the area. Unfortunately, during the French revolution, most of the works were destroyed since most of the tapestries at that time contained gold threads.

Later on, Flanders became the center of tapestry production. Today, tapestries are still being produced but the most valuable are the ones during the made from the 16th to the 19th centuries.

So, the next time you encounter the word tapestry, you won’t grope around your dictionary to find the definition. Tapestries, what’s in a name?

Tapestries, Whats in a Name? (part 1 of 2)

Tapestries, what’s in a name indeed? Yes, there are people today who have not an inkling on what tapestries are. It would be fortunate if they don’t think of it as some pastry or some sort of dessert. Some might have been introduced to the word from the films they’ve seen or books they’ve read. But still, their understanding of what the word describes might be different from what the object really is. So let’s stop his hoopla and begin discussing what tapestries are and what they are not.

Tapestries are big wall decorative fixtures. That’s one way of simply explaining it but the definition is an over simplification of what they are, the historic significance and the impact it had to history. Wait a minute, from overly simplifying things, you might think that I’m exaggerating the importance a bit. Actually, not really.

Making a tapestry is an art form. In fact, it is one of the oldest form of textile art. If we’re going to be strict about it, a tapestry can be described as a thick piece of fabric which has intricate designs and images created by weaving various colored threads into fixed warp threads. The closely woven the threads are the more detailed the images they can produce. Now, in those times weaving tapestries is done by hand. And depending on the design and the size of one, it may take months or even years for a group of weavers to complete.

Tapestry making has been around since the classical antiquity. There are tapestries that have been handed down from generations to generations. The practice of owning a tapestry lies on the ancient tradition that the presence of a hand-woven tapestry symbolizes wealth, power, and importance.

Boxing: Secrets Of The Greats (part 2 of 2)

http://www.bromotravelindo.com

Maintain your discipline
Boxing is not only a sport, it is also science and art combined. As such, the disciples of this art are forced to maintain the disciple itself and their own conduct. Discipline covers regular training, exercise and of course self-control.

Develop your own technique
What is there to add when everything seems to have already been discovered? Not much but there is still. From time to time, boxers develop their own boxing techniques that are different from everyone else's. These are oftentimes products of their own inquisitive desire to discover something new from an old craft, a product of combining techniques from other styles of fighting or a remade and polished technique from an old great.

Invest on character
Lack of good character is among the most treacherous factors why some boxers just don’t become great themselves. It is much harder to be humble when you know that you can pick a fight any time you want, hit a guy straight in the face and come out without a scratch. But then again, that is not the essence of boxing.

It is not simply brawling, it is also a test of character. If you are patient enough, if you have consideration for the other fighters enough to make you respect them, if you can look another fighter in the eye and see that he is not just a living punching bag, you will definitely understand that it takes more than fists to be a boxer. It also requires a good character.

All boxing greats have a common denominator. It is their personal investments on this field.

Boxing: Secrets Of The Greats (part 1 of 2)

Boxing is a sport where the fists are your investment. Some call it barbaric, others call it a game. Either way, some great boxers were born into it; others were born to test themselves with it.

Start young
The greatest boxers in the world did not crop out of nowhere.  They rose into greatness thanks to their early experiences that led them to boxing. Anecdotes of boxers would typically illustrate that they were pushed into boxing at early ages. Thus, their careers begun and they grew up with it.

Train hard
An oaf does not become a genius overnight. Well some greats seem to have real talents with boxing, many of them were products of consistent training and development of their skills. Like in all sports, you just don’t grow muscles that make you box better or will that makes you stand the blows from the opponent. You have to invest something on boxing which more often than not, go a long way into your boxing career.

Hurt yourself
This is probably one of the sadder truths in boxing- no one is invisible to the blows. So take them for they are parts of the sport. Some of them are hard, some of them are even harder but you cannot choose if you want to follow the paths of the greats.

Never look at it as a personal fight
Professional boxing is not only termed so because someone gets to benefit from it professionally. Boxing is not limited to the monetary benefits. Professional boxing is professional because boxers typically have the full knowledge that everything that happens on the ring is just for the fulfillment of the game. It is not a personal fight between two guys. It is just a game, like most other games. Thus, keep your emotions at bay for once emotions get into the fight, it is a sure way to lose it.
